Abstract: The rough circular stepped plate, which is influenced by the effect of MHD and for this study, micro-polar fluid is used as a lubricant. The governing equations are that taken up for analysis are based on Eringen’s micropolar theory. To estimate the effects of surface roughness, Christens theory is applied for the present analysis. The fluid film pressure is derived using the modified Reynolds equation. The expression of the load sustaining capacity of the circular stepped plate is estimated based on the pressure that is developed in the film region. The roughness of the plate decreases the pressure and load sustaining capacity, but the influence of MHD increases the pressure and load sustaining capacity. The relative percentage of the load sustaining capacity is analyzed based on roughness and magnetic field.
